KEKE WARFIELD

Keke says she remembers when she believed that yoga was just “stretching” or a way to become more flexible. That was over a decade ago when she came to her mat for the first time. Her body was tight and sore from years of running and working on her feet. Her first few classes at Zen and Now were challenging but fun and her interest was piqued. Keke found that her body and mind felt better than ever- and she also was not pushing herself through pain or exhaustion. Through yoga Keke says she has excavated years of stuck trauma both physically and mentally. She truly believes with all of her heart that this ancient practice has the power to change people’s lives for the better. That is why she chose to become a yoga teacher. Keke wants to share this gift with as many people as she can. Keke states she had the privilege to train under Lisa Bragaw and Elizabeth Johnstone to receive her 200hr RYT. She has been teaching heated vinyasa classes for four years. Keke gravitates towards a fast-paced vinyasa because the combination of intense physical movement with intentional breath work helps to keep her mindful. She also loves to come up with fresh sequences to challenge herself and her students’ bodies and minds. Keke takes yoga very seriously but she tries not to take herself too seriously- and encourages her students to do the same. So, you may hear some strange sound effects or singing happening in one of her classes.

“We show up, burn brightly in the moment, live passionately, and when the moment is over, when our work is done, we step back and let go. Victory to our spirits, peace to all beings.” -Rolf Gates
